The sun protection is to protect the skin from the harmful effects of exposure to various types of solar radiation. Pharmacists as manipulative and dispensing of these products has improved formulas that best exhibit an effective protector profile. However, not every formula shows a good efficacy is not indicated correctly. Studies have shown that the biotype and skin type should be factors in choosing the right sunscreen. This study aims to explain about the use of sunscreen cosmetics and understanding about its benefits in varying skin types. Different skin biotypes define the indication of the best base or vehicle in order to avoid excessive oiliness and comedogenesis or stains. Fitzpatrick’s classification (1975) to phototypes’ skins indicate the best protection indicator: SPF, sun protection factor to UVB radiation; and PPD, persistent skin to cumulative damage from UVA. Thus, with the correct history and dermatological assessment can indicate the ideal sunscreen without causing damage and effective in photoprotection.pt_BR
