| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Hand Hygiene is recognized worldwide as a primary measure of great importance in the prevention and control of Health Care Related Infections (IRAS). However, the rate of adherence to hand hygiene by health professionals remains low, representing a serious public health problem. Method: This is a transversal analytical, study with a convenience sample. The study was carried out in a Higher Education Institution of the Central West region. The study population was composed of students from the 6th to 9th grade Nursing Course totaling 63 students. The data were recorded in a checklist. The collection was performed from 09/10 to 23/10/2017, in the morning and night periods, through the direct non-participant observation of the antiseptic friction of the hands with alcoholic solution containing fluorescent ink. We used Truth Box, which contains the black light which facilitated the visualization of unhygienic points. The collection took place individually and confidentially. Results and Discussion: It was observed that 52.4% of the participants were less than 30 years old, 90.5% were female, and the most hygienized region was the interdigital spaces with 80.95% and the less sanitized place were the fists with 4.76% in the right hand and the distal phalanx with 6.35% representing the left ventral hand. In the right hand and the dorsal left, the palm region with the back was the part where there was a greater deficit in the hygiene of the students with 3.17%. When observing the correct hand hygiene technique, many academics have demonstrated that they have only theoretical knowledge and since the technique is not performed correctly, it will not present any individual or collective benefits. Conclusion: It is observed in this study that the low adherence to the correct hand hygiene technique has been present since graduation, which is in agreement with the importance of the educational interventions in the teaching and learning process for the behavior change of the future health professionals. | pt_BR |

| pt_BR |
