Patients undergoing cancer treatment who receive attention from a dental surgeon (DS) need special care. It is essential that the professional is aware of the adverse reactions of radiotherapy treatment in the mouth and surrounding regions the mouth and surrounding areas to alleviate discomfort and improve the patient's quality of life. patient's quality of life. Head and neck radiotherapy can cause extensive and sometimes permanent sequelae, sometimes permanent, especially in the salivary glands and bone tissue. Our aim is to review these effects, and the treatments proposed in the literature. During treatment with chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy, fungal infections or fungal infections or opportunistic inflammations may arise and should be treated by the dentist, regardless of whether the patient is palliative or not. This review of the literature highlights the main diseases that can arise in oncological patients and the importance of a dentist in the multidisciplinary oncology team. team. The role of dentists in the multidisciplinary team is crucial, as oral pathologies in cancer patients are common and proven by studies. This study highlighted the significant importance of dentists in the proper management of patients undergoing head and neck and neck radiation, reinforcing the need for greater participation in the multidisciplinary team.pt_BR
