N: The periodontal disease is an inflammatory and infectious process that affects the gingival and supporting tissues of the teeth. OBJECTIVES: To estimate the prevalence of inflammatory periodontal disease in individuals treated at the Clínica Escola de Odontologia do Centro Universitário Goyazes from January 2020 to May 2022. METHODOLOGY: This is a descriptive, retrospective, cross- sectional, census sample. Data already collected from the medical records of patients who were treated at the teaching clinic were tabulated. The investigation of the prevalence of periodontal condition took place in the institution's archives. RESULTS: In this research, 151 medical records were analyzed, in which it was possible to observe a prevalence of 60.2% (n = 91) of the female gender and 39.73% (n = 60) of the male gender. Of these, 68.21% (n = 103) were aged between 31 and 59 years, 23.84% (n = 36) were aged between 18 and 30 years, 7.94% (n = 12) were aged between 60 years and most. Regarding oral hygiene, 68.21% (n=103) individuals studied reported using dental floss. The prevalent periodontal condition was gingivitis, in relation to periodontitis. Regarding habits and/or systemic conditions that could interfere with the periodontal profile, it was observed that 17.21% (n = 26) of the patients claimed to be smokers and only 11.92% (n = 18) claimed to be diabetic. CONCLUSION: Based on the evidence found in this study, it is concluded that: the prevalence of inflammatory periodontal diseases in the population studied was 74.2%, gingivitis was the most common periodontal disease in the general sample studied and the most prevalent gender was female and female. age group between 31 and 59 years.pt_BR
