Abstract: INTRODUCTION: Ameloblastoma is an odontogenic tumor, with invasive and penetrative behavior, which has a great ability to reappear, presenting in a benign form in most cases. It is considered the second most common, rare, benign odontogenic tumor that affects the mandible more commonly than the maxilla.OBJECTIVE:Understand, through a literature review, about the diagnosis and treatment of Ameloblastoma.METHODOLOGY: This is an integrative literature review. The Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Information System - LILACS, Scientific Electronic Library online - SCIELO and Pubmed, from 2016 to 2021, was used as a research base.RESULTS: To reduce ameloblastoma recurrence and minimize the impact of repeated surgery on patients' facial appearance and function, it is important to identify risk factors associated with recurrence. It is also useful for clinical treatment protocol and prognostic judgment.CONCLUSION: Final diagnosis is made through a microscopic examination, however clinical examinations and imaging examinations using radiography and computed tomography help provide a differential diagnosis. Treatment options include conservative forms such as marsupialization, curettage, enucleation and cryotherapy, while more radical forms include marginal resection or segmental block excision and treatment of the operative field with chemical (Carnoy's solution), physical (ostectomy) or thermal substances (cryotherapy).
